- Get full IODP updates on program activities, particularly expeditions.
- Meet other scientists active in the program and those leading IODP.
- Get the current outlook on short- and long-term funding of IODP.
IODP
program leaders will be onsite, prepared to answer your questions about
where IODP is headed, in a Town Hall Meeting format that emphasizes
face-to-face, direct communication (no PowerPoint presentations!) and
that focuses on audience interaction; specifically, your questions.
Click on the Leadership link for a list of resource
people who will be available to respond to your questions about IODP
drilling vessels, expedition schedules, science planning, and funding.
Town Hall Meeting format:
- Short
introduction by moderator Manik Talwani, IODP-MI president, on the
evening’s topic, “IODP Sailing Into 2009 and Beyond,”
- Five-minute
brainstorming session to gather your questions. (Come prepared!)
Audience members may submit their questions with the request to deliver
the question personally at a microphone set up on the floor, or
anonymously through the moderator.
- The
room will be set up in half-round tables so meeting participants can
collaborate with peers in developing questions.
- The
45-minute question-and-answer session will be followed by a “last
round” with the panelists, who will join the participants on the Town
Hall Meeting floor.
Forum:
The
online Town Hall Forum will be active until Dec. 16, the day of the
event. It is available to give you a forum in which to discuss topics
of interest with one another, submit questions online, collaborate on
topics of discussion, and provide any other input to the program you
deem appropriate. The forum will be monitored daily by IODP staff.
